AP CM launches food processing units

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday virtually launched/laid foundation stone for 18 food processing units across Andhra Pradesh. Speaking on the occasion, he underlined the need to set up more secondary food processing units to help the farmers, prevent wastage and ensure value addition.
The State government has decided to establish one secondary food processing industry in each parliamentary constituency with a total investment of Rs 3600 crore. The units will process surplus yield by procuring them through Rythu Bandhu Kendras and Markfed. The units once operational will provide total jobs for 33,000 including 3,000 permanent jobs.
Secondary millet processing units will be set up in 13 locations. One of the units was launched at Krishnapatnam in Padmnabham mandal in Visakhapatnam district at a cost of Rs 4.46 crore. An organic coffee processing unit from the products procured from Araku was launched near Narsipatnam.
